DAY 1: UK - Calgary.
Fly to Calgary where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for a welcome drink with your tour director, and an overnight stay.
DAY 2: Calgary - Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump - Waterton Lakes National Park.
Today it's on to the Macleod Trail just outside the town of Fort Macleod to visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a native Indian hunting site, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel to the scenic Waterton Lakes National Park with a photo stop at Cameron Falls, a serene cascade made from some of the oldest rock in the Rockies. (B)
DAY 3: Waterton Lakes National Park - Glacier National Park - Going to the Sun Road - Whitefish.
Today enter Montana through Glacier National Park which covers over one million acres of forests, alpine meadows and lakes. Board one of the famous vintage red Jammer Buses and travel along the 'Going to the Sun Road', one of America's most spectacular highways. Built in the 1930's, it is the only road through the national park. After crossing the 6,664 feet high Logan Pass, enter the alpine scenery of jagged mountain peaks, deep green forests, pristine lakes and meadows. Overnight in Whitefish. (B, D)
DAY 4: Whitefish - Banff.
Today cross back into British Colombia and visit the restored town of Fort Steele, founded in 1864 and a booming town where fortunes were made during the Kootenay Gold Rush. Afterwards, stop at the Radium Hot Springs, an area renowned for its health spa. Next, drive through the red cliffs of Sinclair Canyon and Kootenay National Park before entering Banff National Park, the heart of the Canadian Rockies. (B)
DAY 5: Banff.
Banff is one of Canada's favourite year-round resorts with many summer activities including hiking and horseback riding. You are invited to take a thrilling gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain to experience some of the best panoramic views over Banff and the surrounding countryside. The rest of your day is free to explore or take one of our optional helicopter rides. (B)
DAY 6: Banff - Columbia Icefield - Jasper.
Today follow the breathtaking Icefields Parkway into Jasper National Park. Scale Bow Pass with its splendid views of Bow Falls and Peyto Lake before climbing the Sunwapta Pass to savour the stunning vistas of alpine meadows, waterfalls and glaciers. Next, stop at the Columbia Icefield for an amazing snowcoach ride over the 1,000-feet-thick Athabasca Glacier. Admire the Athabasca Falls before reaching Jasper National Park with free time in the afternoon for a scenic walk, or visit to places of interest such as the Jasper Wildlife Museum or the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives. DAY 7: Jasper - Maligne Lake - Jasper.
The morning is at leisure. So why not take a hike along the trails and look for majestic elk or stroll the streets of Jasper. This afternoon journey to Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, with a narrated cruise on the glacial lake. (B, D)
DAY 8: Jasper - Lake Louise - Calgary.
Retrace your route through the Icefields Parkway, to visit famous Lake Louise and its cold turquoise waters, which act as a perfect mirror reflecting the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Afterwards continue to Calgary where your tour director hosts a special farewell dinner. (B, D)
DAY 9: Calgary - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)
DAY 10: Home landing in the UK.
