8-Day Break

Day 1 – Fly to Milan or Bergamo, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Cadenabbia on Lake Como for seven nights. D
Day 2-7  – Enjoy time in resort with our excellent excursion programme. 6xB, L, D

Lake Maggiore (included) and the Borromean Islands (optional). We travel first to the opulent resort town of Stresa, from where our optional cruise will take you to the Borromean Islands. The islands lie at the centre of the lake and are fine examples of natural beauty enhanced by landscaped gardens and parks. On Isola Bella, visit the Palazzo Borromeo and its splendid gardens.

Lake Cruise Deluxe – Villa Balbianello (optional). The best way to appreciate the beauty of Lake Como is by taking to the water. You sail by private boat to Villa del Balbianello, one of the loveliest villas on the lake, set in magnificent gardens. Afterwards, enjoy an included lunch at ‘Restaurant Da Silvio’, which specialises in local fish dishes.

Old Bergamo (optional). A journey into the past, as we head to the old city of Bergamo, situated in the hills overlooking the North Italian Plain. Explore the pedestrianised heart of the city and perhaps take the funicular up to Old Bergamo, renowned for the quality of its fine foods and wines.

Milan and Guided Sightseeing (optional). The breathtaking Duomo is one of the world’s largest, most striking Gothic cathedrals, whilst Milan’s art galleries, many housed in former palaces, are home to a host of significant works.

St. Moritz and Bernina Express (optional). We leave the lakes to visit the world-famous resort of St. Moritz. From here you join the Bernina Express, the highest rail crossing of the Alps. Journey through the peaks and glaciers of the Bernina Alps. Don’t forget your camera as we experience the fantastic sights from the Alpine wonderland to the palm trees of Italy. We rejoin our coach in Tirano for the journey back to Como.

Valtellina Wine Trail (optional). A wonderful excursion, deep into the Valtellina Valley with a visit to the beautiful city of Tirano. Explore a typical wine cellar, where a guide will explain the history of how the wine is made and the various procedures involved from ‘grape to bottle’. You will then have the opportunity to taste three different local wines, accompanied by three regional dishes.

Como Market and Lugano Shopping (optional). A chance to buy those all-important presents for loved ones, with a full day’s shopping experience.
Day 8 – Return Flight from Milan or Bergamo to the U.K. B

Accommodation

You’ll stay for seven fully-inclusive nights at the 3-star Hotel Britannia Excelsior in Cadenabbia on Lake Como.

Enjoying a superb setting facing the lake shore, this large and lively hotel has a restaurant featuring buffet meals and show cooking, a large bar, lounge area, lifts and its own lakefront lido area with outdoor pool and bar (where a limited selection of drinks are available).

Enjoy the superb views across the lake to Bellagio. All bedrooms have flatscreen T.V., telephone, hairdryer, ceiling fan and air-conditioning (mid-June to mid- September).
