From golden desert dunes and lush green oases to historical architecture and glorious beaches, this leisurely tour combines a relaxing stay in Hammamet with included visits to Tunisia's most fascinating natural and historical attractions.

DAY 1: UK - Tunis - Hammamet.
Fly to Tunis where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Hammamet for four nights. (D)
DAY 2-3: Hammamet.
A beach lover's paradise, Hammamet is edged by two gorgeous sweeping sandy bays on the Mediterranean. Enjoy two full days at leisure in Hammamet, either relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun or exploring the picturesque town centre, where a wealth of attractions is nestled amongst the abundance of white-washed homesteads, flowers-filled orchards, citrus and olive groves that give Hammamet its nickname 'Tunisia's garden resort'. Why not explore the 15th century kasbah and old walled medina, or head to one of the many bustling bazaars to haggle for a bargain in the atmospheric market? (B, D)
DAY 4: Tunis - Carthage - Sidi-Bou-Said.
An exotic blend of Arabic, French and African influences, Tunis is the country's capital and a charismatic city combining a lively modern centre with one of the Arab world's oldest and most fascinating medinas. Explore the spellbinding medina at leisure, winding amongst colourful, narrow lanes bursting with spices, perfumes and all manner of arts or crafts. After lunch continue to Carthage, once an ancient Phoenician city to rival Rome, tour the spectacular Roman and Punic ruins and visit the Byrsa Hill Museum before heading to the picture-perfect Sidi-Bou-Said, a traditional village perched on a clifftop and peppered with traditional white and blue architecture. Enjoy free time to appreciate the spectacular views over the Gulf of Tunis or relax with a traditional mint tea before returning to Hammamet. (B, L, D)
DAY 5: El Djem - Matmata - Douz.
Embark on a spectacular two-day trip to the Sahara Desert and its fascinating natural and historical attractions. Begin at El Djem, one of the best-preserved Roman sites in Africa, for a visit to the imposing 3rd century Roman coliseum, the mighty amphitheatre, and the vast gladiatorial tunnels. Next, journey to the amazing subterranean cave-dwelling village of Matmata, used in the original 'Star Wars' films and inhabited until the 1960s. Marvel at the seemingly desolate lunar-like landscape and ingenious natural planning before continuing to the desert outpost of Douz, known as 'the gateway to the Sahara', where you'll stay for one night. This evening, enjoy an optional camel ride amongst the desert dunes. (B, L, D)
DAY 6: Douz - Tozeur - Kairouan - Hammamet.
Drive across the spectacularly beautiful landscape of Chott El Jerid, the Sahara's largest salt lake, to honey-hued Tozeur, once a major point on the ancient caravan route from Algeria and modern Tunisia's largest oasis town. Board a traditional horse-drawn carriage for an optional tour of the oasis, taking in the glorious yellow-brick, traditional architecture, or join an exciting optional trip to the richly verdant mountain oases of Chebika or Tamerza for a thrilling jeep ride. After lunch in Gafsa, continue to the once sacred city of Kairouan for a visit to the bustling medina before returning to Hamammet. (B, L, D)
DAY 7: Hammamet.
